Wilderness Guide

Ian has explored and researched the glens, rivers, hills and mountains of upper Deeside many times and has carried out over 500 taped interviews of the folk who have inhabited the glens of the Cairngorms and Lochnagar areas.  This is an ideal opportunity to walk one to one or in a small group exploring shiels, former habitations and features of the remoter places. All levels of walks are catered for from low level to high tops. Fish the rivers and learn to cast with a fly rod (see fishing page).

His knowledge covers the history, heritage, land use, flora and fauna, folklore, bushcraft and traditional skills, navigation, survival skills, Gaelic placenames,  Basic mountaineering skills. He is qualified Mountain Leader for Winter and Summer conditions. Full member Mountain Training Association.
